Antelope Escapes Wild Dogs by Jumping Into Water, Only to Face a Crocodile

A brave puku antelope survived an extraordinary fight for its life in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. In August, while leading a safari tour, Peter Geraerdts witnessed a pack of wild dogs chasing the frightened animal.

Dramatic footage shows the antelope making a desperate leap into the water at the last moment, escaping the pursuing dogs, which could no longer reach it. But the danger was far from over. Another formidable predator was waiting in the water – a crocodile.

The antelope managed to survive this encounter as well. The remarkable scene from the African wilderness shows how quickly a fight for survival can change, and how a split-second decision and a little luck can make all the difference.
