Dashcam Captures Deadly 9-Vehicle Highway Crash on Highway 401 in Canada

A devastating nine-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 401 near Cambridge, Ontario, on July 11 at around 12:30 p.m. The collision involved eight passenger vehicles and a transport truck. Dashcam footage captured the dramatic moments of the crash and has since spread widely across social media.

According to police, a 44-year-old man from Kitchener was critically injured and airlifted to a trauma center, where he later died. Fifteen other people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Investigators believe the transport truck slammed into slowed traffic, triggering the massive pileup. The truck driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving but was later released pending the outcome of the investigation. The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 remained closed for nearly 10 hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
