Helicopter Crew Stops Drug Boat Carrying Cargo Worth $45.8 Million

The United States Coast Guard's tactical helicopter unit HITRON intercepted a smuggling vessel carrying more than 6,000 lbs (2,720 kilograms) of illegal drugs around 80 miles (130 kilometers) west of Cartagena, Colombia.

The adrenaline-filled video reveals the dramatic operation on the open sea, while also exposing the staggering financial scale behind the smuggling attempt.

The seized cargo was estimated to be worth an astonishing $45.8 million (39.3 million €), and authorities later transported the drugs to Port Everglades in Florida.
