17-Year-Old Saves A Baby Holding Him Above Water For Nine Days After A Shipwreck

The ship, which was sailing from the African continent to Europe, suffered a shipwreck during the journey, and the rescue team found a 17-year-old man holding a four-month-old baby in his hands.

The teenager saved the baby's life with his intervention, and the arrival of the rescue team was recorded on a mobile phone by one of the rescuers.

French photographer Michael Bunel, who was part of the rescue team, told the media that upon arriving at the scene of the accident, he first heard someone shouting that he had a child in his arms. The rescue team saved the teenager along with the baby and another man with the help of a rescue boat.

The baby was not breathing at first, which is why they gave him first aid - eventually they saved the baby and brought him to Malta together with his mother. It took the rescue team nine days after the shipwreck to come to the rescue, which sparked outrage among many.

In addition to the 71 survivors, at least 30 more dead were found at the accident site, including a pregnant woman. The rescued passengers were then brought to Italy, and they were allowed to enter the city of Taranto only after five days.
