Abused German Shepherd Is Slowly Rehabilitated To Love Humans Again

Sassy was feral when rescued. Like most scared dogs, she would bite if cornered and always kept her distance from people, never allowing herself to be touched. A normal foster home wasn't going to help her attain a normal life, so she went to a trainer, Jeff Tesoro, who is amazing with feral dogs. She was by no means an easy case.

It was six months before Coastal GSR volunteers could handle her. Even after her boot camp training was over, Jeff continued to work with her every day. With volunteers also socializing her, she was making great progress and was nothing like the dog we first met. She was still terrified of strangers, but we were on the right path.

After one year of working with Jeff and volunteers, she was ready to join a family. Lucky for her, the perfect couple wanted to meet her and they fell in love. She went home with them and has become a model canine.
