Aurora Chasers Filmed A New Type Of Aurora In Finland
The internet was surrounded by videos from Finland, in which observers filmed a completely new form of aurora, dubbed "the dunes."
The new shape of the polar glow stretched across the sky in a long green color, and the videos will help scientists better understand our atmosphere.
The aurora, sometimes referred to as polar lights, northern lights (aurora borealis), or southern lights (aurora australis), is a natural light display in the Earth's sky, predominantly seen in the high-latitude regions around the Arctic and Antarctic.
For now, scientists are speculating that a new form of northern lights in Finland was created as a result of an electrical wave from space. In the normal appearance of the aurora, the green color blends vertically, and in the new form of the northern glow the colors stretch horizontally.
