Brave Divers Rescued Whale Shark In The Maldives

A video of brave divers who experienced a very special scene off the island of Fuvahmulah in the Maldives has landed online.

During the dive, a whale shark swam up to them and asked good people for help.

Divers Antonio Di Franca and Simone Musumeci quickly saw that the whale shark was in trouble - it had a large rope wrapped around the body, and the animal could not save itself.

The whale shark was immediately helped by divers and the rope was cut with knives. They saved the huge animal from suffering, and their feat has impressed many internet users.

Whale sharks are a slow-moving, filter-feeding carpet sharks and the largest known extant fish species. The largest confirmed individual had a length of 18.8 m (62 ft). The whale shark holds many records for size in the animal kingdom, most notably being by far the largest living nonmammalian vertebrate.
