Deadly Russian Plane Fire From 2019 Seen In Newly Released Video

Russian investigators released a new video these days from Moscow's Shermetevo airport, captured by cameras last May 9.

In the crash of a passenger plane during landing, 41 people lost their lives and another 10 were seriously injured.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft caught fire on the fateful day of the landing, and investigators attributed the blame to pilot Denis Evdokimov. He is accused of failing to follow the protocols provided for in such accidents, and faces up to seven years in prison.

Shortly after take-off, lightning struck the aircraft, prompting the pilot to return to the airport and make an emergency landing. The wheels could not withstand a hard landing, causing the plane to slide down the runway for hundreds of meters, and then a fire broke out.

Now Russian investigators have posted a new video online that depicts the tragedy that day. There were 78 people on board, and only 37 survived the crash.
