Fire Breaks Out Inside 15th Century Cathedral In Nantes, France

Today in the morning a large fire broke out in the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in the French city of Nantes.

Fortunately, about 60 firefighters quickly put out the fire, but the fire still completely destroyed the organ in the cathedral.

The latest information says that the fire broke out in three different locations in the cathedral, so the police consider it as a criminal act. The construction of the cathedral began in the 15th century, more precisely in 1434, and was completed only 457 years later.

A fire already broke out in the cathedral as early as 1972 and caused great material damage, but the cathedral was successfully restored at that time.

It is still considered one of the most beautiful works of late Gothic, and at the today's incident many remembered the fire that severely damaged the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral last year.
