Formula 1 Car Caught On Czech Highway: Driver Arrested After The Chase
Police in the Czech Republic have arrested a Formula 1 driver who had been spotted several times in recent years driving his race car on the highway.
He violated traffic rules again this past August, when police tracked him down in the village of Buk, about 60 kilometers (40 miles) from Prague. After the chase, the 51-year-old man was taken into custody.
Already in August, an unknown driver uploaded a YouTube video showing a first-person perspective of driving a Formula 1 car on the Czech highway. During the stunt, he even refueled at a gas station before his run ended with his arrest.

Back in 2019, a video appeared online showing an unknown man speeding through Czech streets in a Formula 1 car. Police had been trying in vain to identify him for years. In August, the alleged same driver resurfaced when he was spotted with a red Formula 1 car on the D4 highway, filming his ride and uploading it to YouTube.

Yesterday, another video appeared on the same YouTube channel, showing police surrounding the man's home after the chase. After finishing his drive, the man pulled into his driveway while police sirens echoed in the background. In front of his garage, he argued with officers, insisting they had no authority to enter his private property. The house was surrounded by dozens of police vehicles, while a helicopter hovered overhead. After consulting his lawyer, the man finally gave in, still wearing full racing gear, and sat into a police car. He was taken to the station for questioning and placed under arrest.
According to Czech media, the 51-year-old man denied ever driving a Formula 1 car on the motorway. Following the high-profile arrest, he faces fines for operating a non-homologated vehicle on a highway, as well as additional penalties for driving without headlights, indicators, and license plates. He is also likely to lose his driving license, while police may seize his Formula 1 car.
