Giant Squid Caught On Camera For The Second Time Ever, And Boy Is It Spooky

Scientists have captured a giant squid these days on camera in a habitat in waters of the southern coast of the United States.

The scene was shot at the depths of the Gulf of Mexico, and the size of giant squid was estimated by scientists at 3.7 meters (12 ft). A powerful animal was filmed with an underwater research vessel Medus, and all the scenes unfolded 750 meters (2,460 ft) below sea surface. The giant squid was attracted by the bait, which was installed on the vessel.

However, giant squids can be much larger than this one in the video. They can grow up to 12 meters (40 ft) in length - according to recent research, giant squid may grow up to 20 meters (65 ft) in length.

A team of scientists was enthusiastic about the image, because at that depth the giant squid was recorded for the second time ever. First time it was seven years ago, when the giant squid was captured on camera in Japan.
