Heartbreaking Video Shared By Diogo Jota's Wife Just Hours Before The Tragedy
In the early hours of Thursday morning, a tragic car accident occurred on a highway near Zamora in western Spain, claiming the lives of Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his younger brother André Silva.
A heartbreaking video is now circulating online, which was shared just hours before the tragedy by Jota's wife, Rute Cardoso. The couple had married 11 days earlier.
The 28-year-old Portuguese footballer was vacationing in the region of Zamora with his newlywed wife, enjoying their honeymoon. Due to a recent lung surgery, he was advised against flying, so he chose to travel back from Spain by car. His younger brother André accompanied him.

In the early morning of Thursday, the two were driving on the A-52 motorway near the Portuguese border. During an overtaking maneuver, tragedy struck. According to reports, a tire burst on their Lamborghini, causing Jota to lose control. The car veered off the road and burst into flames. Both brothers died at the scene.
They were heading to Santander, Spain, from where they had planned to travel to the UK by ferry. Doctors had recommended avoiding air travel due to Jota's recent surgery, which led him to take this alternate route - an unfortunate decision with devastating consequences.
Truck driver captured the accident:
Jota had married Rute Cardoso on June 22 in Portugal. The couple had been together since high school, dating back to 2012. He left behind three children - two sons, Denis and Duarte, and a daughter born just last year.
Just hours before the fatal accident, Rute Cardoso published a touching wedding video on Instagram, capturing beautiful moments from their wedding day. She captioned it: "A day we will never forget."
