Jellyfish Spotted Swimming Through Venice's Unusually Clean Canals

Biologist filmed a beautiful scene on Easter Sunday with a jellyfish floating in the canals of Venice between reflections of the buildings there.

Jellyfish that reside in clean waters have arrived in Venice because of the recent low tide and little traffic due to measures to curb the pandemic.

Italian biologist Andrea Mangoni, who works in Venice, captured a beautiful scene in the heart of downtown. "I was able to film a jellyfish that was swimming close to the San Marco square, only few inches below the water surface," he told Reuters.

The jellyfish rhisostoma pulmo seen in the video is a very common species of jellyfish in the upper Adriatic, and could only enter the Venetian through tidal flows.

Take a look at another positive side of the pandemic that brought life back to the pure Venetian canals. After many fish, ducks and other animals, jellyfish were also found there.
