Massive Glacier Collapse Caught On Camera In Ilulissat, Greenland

From Ilulissat, Greenland, comes a breathtaking video in which we can see a very special scene.

An enormous glacier collapsed infront of the camera, and the video immediately became a hit online.

Icebergs breaking from the Ilulissat Glacier are often up to 3,000 feet in height (1 km) and thus too tall to float down the fjord and lie stuck on the bottom of its shallower areas, sometimes for years, until they are broken up by the force of the glacier and icebergs further up the fjord. This time, native Bo Baake captured the scene on camera as part of a huge glacier broke away, then ended up in the sea.

The scene, filmed in Greenland, left many speechless on the web, while letting them know how big the icebergs can be.

See how the huge part of Ilulissat glacier in Greenland collapsed, captured on camera by local Bo Baake!
