Monster Waves And Storm Surge Blasting The Coast In Benissa, Alcante, Spain

There were storms in the east of Spain yesterday, causing quite a bit of trouble. Local authorities have reported at least three people died in Catalonia and Valencia.

The sea was turning into a water monster, as evidenced by numerous videos posted online.

During the storm Gloria, many Spaniards witnessed very high waves at the sea, especially in Catalonia and Valencia. They recorded the highest wave ever there, measuring eight and a half meters in height (28 ft). Due to heavy rain, rivers and streams crossed the banks in some places.

Many of the roads and ports in Alicante had to be closed and the airport was shut down completely. Weather forecasters say the storm is expected to last until Wednesday, leaving many locals fearing the worst is yet to come.
