Too Fast for the Corner: Motorcycle Leaves the Road
The footage, filmed by Antonello Bestiolino Salvatore, captures a terrifying ordeal involving his riding companion. The two were overtaking a car when the second rider suddenly found himself in serious trouble just before a sharp, blind bend.
As he moved into the opposite lane, a car appeared from around the bend. Having started the overtake too late and traveling too fast, the motorcyclist had no room to return safely to his own lane.
Trying to avoid a collision, he veered toward the edge of the oncoming lane but completely missed the bend, hurtling off the road at high speed. He bounced violently across the sloping terrain twice, but the drama was far from over.
Straight to the Forest and Narrowly Avoided Disaster
Thanks to remarkable reflexes and an enormous amount of luck, he managed to keep the heavy touring motorcycle upright. He briefly made it back onto the road, only to veer off again on the other side and plunge down a steep slope into the forest.
His friend's camera captured him flying past thick tree trunks at high speed. He missed one tree by inches – a collision at that speed could have been fatal. The motorcycle continued bouncing over rough ground, roots and branches as the rider fought to maintain his balance.
After several seconds of what looked like an off-road enduro ride through the wilderness, he managed to steer back toward the asphalt. He returned to the road without crashing and continued riding as if nothing extraordinary had happened.
His Guardian Angel Was Working Overtime
Commenters have joked that the motorcyclist used up a lifetime's worth of luck in those few seconds, while his guardian angel was working overtime. Many have pointed to the incredible combination of concentration, quick reactions and sheer luck that helped him escape without a crash.
The video quickly went viral, spreading across Reddit and Instagram. The original Facebook post alone has already attracted more than 40 million views.
