Mumbai Police Delivers Instant Justice For Honking Drivers
Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra, India, with a population of about 14 million, making it the second largest city in the world.
There is pure chaos in traffic, and that is precisely why Mumbai is nicknamed the "honking capital of the world".
For many years, police officers there have noticing that many drivers use the horn completely unjustifiably. They also honk at vehicles at red traffic lights, so these days they decided to perform an instructive experiment.
At some traffic lights they installed noise level meters - each time they detected more than 85 dB, the traffic light was reset and again started to count down to 90 seconds to turn green.
Drivers were also alerted to this by an information board that read, "Honk more, wait more." At the same time, the police informed the public that, after their action, unnecessary noise had subsided on the sections. Well, probably at least for a few days.
