NASA's Video Shows How Earth Would Look Without Oceans
Most of the planet Earth is covered by oceans - they occupy about 71% of the Earth's surface and contain more than 97% of the planet's available water.
At the end of 2019, a reworked 2008 NASA clip landed online, uploaded by the scientist James O'Donoghue showing what Earth would look like if all the water would drain off our planet.
O'Donoghue is currently working for the Japan Space Research Agency, but previously he worked for NASA.
In the video, he used an animation from 2008 prepared by NASA, adding a timeline showing how the water in the clip would drain over time.
See what our planet Earth would look like if all the water in the oceans and rivers flowed from it. Undoubtedly a display that reveals to a new look at Mother Earth!
