Ozzy Osbourne Dead At 76: The Last Performance Of The Heavy Metal Icon

The music world has been shaken by the sad news that heavy metal star Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76, just weeks after reuniting with members of Black Sabbath.

The band held a charity concert titled "Back to the Beginning" on July 5, 2025, in Villa Park, Birmingham, following their reunion with the legendary singer. This was the last performance of the heavy metal icon.

"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time," his family said in a public statement. In recent years, the singer had suffered from numerous health issues, including Parkinson's disease. Many of his health complications were also linked to injuries sustained during an unfortunate fall in 2019.

Ozzy Osbourne was born on December 3, 1948, in New Marston, England. In the late 1960s, he left a lasting mark on the heavy metal genre with the band Black Sabbath. He left the group in 1979 and launched a successful solo career, earning numerous awards in music. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, has his own star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, and is also honored on Birmingham's Walk of Stars.

The final charity concert featured several of his favorite musical acts, including Metallica and Guns N' Roses. During the performance, Ozzy Osbourne (whose real name was John Michael) appeared seated on a black throne. The original Black Sabbath lineup joined him on stage, including Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. Around 45,000 people attended the concert in person, while more than 6 million watched the performance online.
