This Is How Fast Oysters Clean Up Polluted Water
Chinese students captured an interesting scene at the University of Hong Kong when they poured dirty water in two aquariums.
One of the aquariums was just filled with dirty water, while in the other there were oysters besides water.
Oyster is the common name for a number of different families of salt-water bivalve molluscs that live in marine or brackish habitats. In some species the valves are highly calcified, and many are somewhat irregular in shape. Many, but not all, oysters are in the superfamily Ostreoidea.
At the same time, oysters are also animals that can filter water perfectly!
Students shot a scene in the aquarium in the "time lapse" mode when the oysters completely cleaned the microscopic algae in an hour and a half. Such algae are causing a lot of problems in China, because fish can not live in such dirty water.
