Vegans Hold Funeral For Chicken At A Grocery Store

Social media is circulating a video of vegan activists who, as a form of protest, visited a restaurant and held a funeral ceremony for chickens.

A similar action was carried out by the same group a decade ago, when they brought an actual coffin into a shopping mall, placed a frozen chicken inside, and held a funeral for it.

At the Trader Joe's restaurant in Oakland, California, activists from the organization Direct Action Everywhere recently held a funeral in honor of chickens that, according to them, were "abused by the cruel company Perdue's Petaluma Poultry, which supplies chickens to the restaurant."

During the ceremony, the activists displayed graphic photos showing the suffering that chickens endure in the United States.

Final farewell to the chickens:

Back in 2014, members of the same activist group organized a funeral for a frozen chicken in one of the shopping malls in Berkeley, California. "Next to us lies the body of a mother who screamed in grief as she was dragged to the ground," the activists shouted while holding a frozen chicken in their hands.

"It's not food, it's violence," chanted the activists in unison, hoping to send a clear message to all shoppers. They placed the chicken in a coffin and held a full funeral procession through the store before being escorted out by security.
