WWII Hero Dies Two Days After Walking Granddaughter Down The Aisle
The military veteran from Poland completed his last mission - he walked his granddaughter down the aisle in the church.
A groom was barely struggling with tears when he saw that his bride was accompanied by her grandfather through the church. The wedding took place in Bialystok, near the Polish border with Belarus, and there was no shortage of moving scenes among the guests.
Two days later, Bronislaw Karwowski died at the age of 94.
In a video clip that was made during the wedding, it was clear that the grandfather of the bride was ill, but nevertheless he accompanied his granddaughter Joanno to the altar in military clothing, on which numerous awards were hanging.
Karwowski was one of the well-known Polish war veterans of the World War II. He was part of the Polish movement against the Nazis, and he also participated in the Warsaw Uprising.
When they caught him, he fled from the Gestapo base in Lomza in the north of Poland, but soon after that he was again arrested. He was an opponent of the communist government in Poland, which was why he was sentenced to a decade in prison.
After Poland was liberated, Karwowski was given many awards for achievements during World War II.
