Messi Scores Stunning Free Kick From Almost Impossible Angle

Lionel Messi once again showed his footballing genius in the 27th round of the MLS season. During Inter Miami's away match against Columbus Crew, Messi scored a spectacular free kick in the 33rd minute from a position where most players would have expected to deliver a cross.

Instead, Messi curled the ball over the defensive wall with his trademark left foot, sending it on a perfect trajectory into the top corner, right where the post meets the crossbar. Columbus goalkeeper Patrick Schulte could only watch as the ball flew beyond his outstretched hand. Statistical models estimated the chance of scoring from the position at just 3 %.

The goal was Messi's 21st of the regular MLS season and the 76th free-kick goal of his career. Despite his brilliance, Inter Miami eventually lost 2-1 after Columbus scored the decisive goal in the 98th minute.
