Pikes Peak 2026: Robin Shutes Breaks Record, Hits a Marmot at High Speed
Robin Shutes secured 2nd place overall and 1st place in the Super Unlimited class at the 2026 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, setting both a personal best and a new rear-wheel-drive record with a time of 8:29.497.
After three years of development, he tackled the legendary mountain race once again in a fully redesigned race car.
The onboard footage showcases an extremely demanding run, during which mechanical issues and heavy suspension impacts occurred. A standout moment happens at the 8:24 mark, when the car strikes a marmot crossing the road at high speed, further highlighting the sheer unpredictability of the Pikes Peak course.
Moment of silence for the marmot, RIP.
