Runaway Semi-Truck Tire Slams Head-On Into Oncoming SUV
A dramatic traffic accident from Philadelphia, USA, is rapidly spreading across social media after a large wheel detached from a semi-truck, creating a scene that could have ended in tragedy.
The crash occurred on July 29 at around 12:30 p.m. on Interstate 76 near the Girard Avenue exit. The detached wheel launched approximately 10 meters (30 feet) into the air, cleared the concrete median barrier, and crashed directly into the front of an oncoming Nissan Rogue SUV.
The entire incident was accidentally captured by the rear-facing camera of a Tesla traveling just ahead of the Nissan. The Tesla driver said they initially heard a loud bang and only realized what had happened after reviewing the vehicle's camera footage.
According to initial reports, no one suffered life-threatening injuries or was killed in the crash. The shocking footage has once again highlighted the dangers that poorly maintained commercial vehicles can pose on public roads.
