Drone Flies Straight Into a Tornado: Stunning Footage From Illinois
A stunning video from Illinois is making waves online after a drone intentionally flew directly into a tornado near Jeffersonville, capturing a rare view from inside one of nature's most powerful storms.
The flight was carried out by the OTUS (Observations of Tornadoes by UAV Systems) research team, which uses specially built drones to collect data from areas too dangerous for humans to enter. The aircraft are equipped with sensors that measure wind speeds, temperature, and other atmospheric conditions.
The information gathered helps scientists better understand how tornadoes behave, improve early warning systems, and develop stronger building standards in regions frequently affected by severe storms.
