Seaplane Makes Emergency Landing on Street in Phoenix
A small World War II-era aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on a street in Phoenix, Arizona, with the dramatic moment captured by a camera mounted on the plane's wing.
The footage shows the aircraft rapidly losing altitude while flying over the city, before the pilot selected an empty stretch of road for the emergency landing. Seaplanes from the World War II era often weigh more than 2,200 lbs (1,000 kg) and use piston engines known for their distinctive deep sound.
The pilot's calm and composed reaction prevented a tragic accident in one of Arizona's busiest cities, and nobody involved in the incident was injured.
