Extreme Floods In Pakistan Kill More Than 1,000 People

Pakistan has been engulfed by violent floods that have claimed more than 1,000 lives since the beginning of the monsoon rains in June.

The authorities, especially in the south of the country, are preparing for new large-scale rainfall, and the government has asked for further international assistance.

Floods in Pakistan have already affected more than 33 million people, and a state of emergency was already declared in the country on Friday. About 220,000 homes, two million hectares of cultivated land, more than 3,500 kilometers of roads and about 150 bridges were destroyed.

According to the latest data from the NDMA agency, 1,033 people have lost their lives since mid-June, of which 348 are children. Even in the coming days, the weather forecasts are very bad, and the south of the country is threatened with new floods.
