Killdeer Birds Have A Peculiar Defense Mechanism

A video has landed online in which a very special scene with a bird called killdeer was filmed in the San Tan Valley in the US state of Arizona.

It is an American bird that often visits grasslands, pastures and fields, and belongs to the porpoise family.

The name of the bird comes from the often heard call, and the mentioned species has another very special feature - they have developed a very special defense mechanism with which they protect their baby birds and eggs from possible predators.

The defense mechanism was also shown live by a bird in a video - as the author approached its nest, the bird pretended to be injured.

In this way, the bird confuses the predators and then escapes in front of them at the last second. Watch how the killdeer birds confuse their predators to protect the baby birds.
