Terrifying Moment Captured On Dashcam As Bridge Collapses In Vietnam

A tragic incident unfolded in northern Vietnam, in the city of Hanoi, when the 375-meter-long Phong Chau Bridge collapsed due to the powerful Typhoon Yagi.

As part of the bridge gave way, 10 cars and two scooters plunged into the raging river below. Miraculously, only four people were rescued.

Among those on the bridge during the disaster were 33-year-old Chui Trong and his coworker Ming Hai, who were returning home on a scooter after work. They initially felt the bridge shaking but assumed it was caused by a truck behind them. Before they realized the danger, the road beneath them disappeared, and they fell into the depths below.

"I was sure I was going to die," told the Trong to the media. Fortunately, neither he nor his coworker fell into the river but landed on a concrete block, part of a support pillar, about 2 meters below the bridge. They sat there in shock until bystanders, forming a human chain, managed to rescue them.

Bridge collapse captured by security cam:

A camera from one of the vehicles that stopped just before the collapse captured the horrifying moment. Authorities are still searching for 13 people whose vehicles plunged into the river, with only Trong, Hai, and two other drivers rescued so far. The death toll in Vietnam due to Typhoon Yagi has tragically risen to over 60.
