Who Will Be The Next Pope? Two Cardinals Are Leading The Race!
On Easter Monday, Pope Francis passed away, remembered as one of the most beloved and down-to-earth popes in history.
As the moment approaches when he will be laid to eternal rest, speculation has already begun about who might become his successor. Two cardinals in particular are emerging as frontrunners.
According to predictions, Luis Antonio Tagle from the Philippines is the top contender. The 67-year-old cardinal is often referred to as the "Asian Pope Francis" and currently leads the betting charts. Closely behind him with slightly fewer odds is 70-year-old Italian cardinal Pietro Parolin, known for his diplomatic skills and moderate theological views. He is considered a strong candidate largely due to his close relationship with Pope Francis, having served as the Vatican Secretary of State — a role comparable to a prime minister. These two are widely seen as the main contenders.

Other strong potential successors include Matteo Zuppi from Italy and Peter Turkson from Ghana. If the latter would be elected, he would become the first Black pope in history.
The new head of the Catholic Church will be elected during a conclave, in which 133 cardinals who had not yet reached the age of 80 on the day of Pope Francis' death have the right to vote. The election takes place under strict secrecy behind the closed doors of the Sistine Chapel.
