Bullfrog vs. Boomslang: The Bizarre Balloon Defense Strategy
An African Bullfrog stood its ground in a brutal roadside battle against one of the world's most lethal predators, the Boomslang snake.
While the snake delivers dozens of bites with its rear-fanged hemotoxic venom, the frog employs a bizarre defense mechanism – swelling its body like a balloon to keep the venom away from vital organs.
These frogs can reach a length of 24 cm (9.4 inches) and weigh over 1.4 kg (3 lbs), utilizing their thick skin and fat layers as a biological shield. The frog+s eerily relaxed posture isn't submission; it is a calculated physiological survival tactic against a snake that usually kills within minutes.
