Meteorites are rocky or metallic fragments that travel through space and reach Earth's surface. On average, meteorites hit the Earth at speeds ranging from 200 to 400 mph (90 to 180 m/s), though smaller pieces slow down further due to air resistance.

Based on the footage and observations, the meteorite in Marshfield struck the ground at an estimated speed of 125-185 mph (200–300 kph), causing minor damage to the property. If the fragment had hit a person, the outcome would likely have been tragic.
