In the south-east of the country, after heavy rains, the Wyangala dam barely held record amounts of water, and the surrounding area was affected by severe floods.

Wyangala dam is a large clay-core walled and gravity dam with eight radial sluices and a concrete chute that spills over the Lachlan River. This is located in the Southwest Slopes region of New South Wales, Australia.

The media described the current situation in the south-east of Australia as "biblical", as the locals had never witnessed such extensive rainfall. Due to the flooded area, many places are cut off from the world, some residents had to be evacuated.
