VIDEO: Shocking Crash On MotoGP Training, Rider Lost His Consciousness
Friday's free practice in Mugello was marked by the shocking accident of Michele Pirro. The Ducati test driver, who appeared as an invitee for the Reds at the home race, frightened the caravan with a big fall, after which he was left in the sand in unconsciousness.
At a speed of 355 kph (220 mph), he flew over the bike at the end of the finish line and crashed hard into the asphalt. The rescuers immediately came to the aid, and the conscious racer was taken to a hospital in Florence with a helicopter.
The doctors claimed that Pirro had successfully passed the tests and that he was ok left only with bruisses, but that he would probably not be ready for the Sunday race.
