Dramatic Footage Shows Landslide In Bolivia Sweeping Away Houses

Hundreds of houses were destroyed in the avalanche, which struck the capital of Bolivia, the city of La Paz two days ago.

Dramatic videos have landed on the web, in which we can see how helpless the inhabitants were when the avalanche ripped off the area of ​​the higher lying neighborhood.

The residents informed the authorities about the avalanche immediately at the beginning, so they started to immediately evacuate. At least 46 homes have been completely destroyed, while another 18 houses have been badly damaged.

According to the latest data, 88 families had to leave their homes, and now most of them remained without a roof over their heads.


Sitting at an altitude of nearly 12,000 feet (3,600 meters), La Paz is the highest capital in the world.  It is also known as "the mountain city", and many buildings were built on a steep slope decades ago. Especially in poor areas, such landslides are witnessed many times, as the terrain is unstable.
