WATCH: Hail Storm Made Road Impassable At Tour de France Stage 19
At the 19th stage of the Tour de France cycling race we witnessed real drama. The route should end in Tignes, but due to the severe storm, which completely covered the area of Val d'Isere, the results from the top of the Iseran pass will stand on.
Many of the sections were completely impassable due to the hail, and also the avalanches coverd the roads.
A lot of controversy was caused primarily by the fact that cyclists received information about the early end of the stage only after the pass Iseran, which resulted in no good will among the competitors.
The organizers were forced to neutralize the stage, because the hail completely covered the road, and certain sections were also covered by landslides. A severe storm brought a heavy rain with it, and the water stood along the road with hail.
On Saturday, cyclists are waiting for another stage where we will get the winner. It will be 130 kilometers long, which includes a more than 30-kilometer long climb in Val Thorens.
